2008 Featured Quilter: Nancy Davis

Each year the previous Featured Artists select a new Featured Artist.  Nancy Davis has been selected as the Featured Artist for 2008.

Nancy began quilting in 1986 after being introduced to it by her daughter in Homer, Alaska. She was working in a fabric shop and suggested that they make a quilt together. Since Nancy had been sewing forever and her daughter also is a great seamstress, it seemed like a wonderful idea. Her daughter picked the fabric and pattern.... and promptly left for college. The rest is history. Nancy is a very talented and prolific quilter. She has been a member of Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club since 1991 and continues to contribute her time and talents to the club.

Here is how Nancy describes herself as a quilter.

“I love all the fabrics available today and the new gadgets that keep appearing to make quilting easier. I remember saying I would never appliqué, but guess what, I love to appliqué, both machine and hand. It is so freeing and for the most part you can't make a mistake.... you just fix it with more appliqué.”

Nancy’s daughter is still involved in her mother’s quilting. Fortunately she has a wonderful home in which she can display her mother’s quilts.
